Peter in his Element

On reflection it is hard to determine which is the most frightening, breathtaking speed through narrow drystone walled country lanes or the spine-tingling 4 hour journey down the notorious M1 towards London where trucks seems to be more common than cars. All the while Stephen is fast asleep in the back seat.

No matter which, our chauffer Peter (Stephen’s brother) seems to be in his element, either hitting the apex at speed through blind corners, or playing chicken with container carrying trucks and the left hand drive Honda who can’t decide which part of the road he should drive on. Meanwhile, Stephen is fast asleep in the back.

Just for entertainment we reach a wide load spanning the breadth of two or more lanes, traffic in kaos as we dance around jockeying for position. Meanwhile, Stephen is fast asleep in the back.

With just a few minutes to spare and with the grace of god we reach junction 10 alive and turn-off to Luton Airport to return the hire car. Meanwhile Stephen awakes.
